Seed weaving originated in Japan and is a creation of fine agriculture. Simply put, the seeds of the crops are wrapped in degradable paper tape at a certain distance. When planting, the paper tape containing the seeds is spread on the ground. After watering, the paper tape melts, and the seeds then break through the ground.
Introduction
The seed weaving process is particularly suitable for crops where seeds are expensive, seeds are small in size (about the size of sesame seeds), or where plant spacing needs to be controlled.
1. Small seed size, inaccurate control, and more seed waste; 2. The number of seeds is too much, the distance between the plants is too close, and artificial thinning is needed in the later stage, wasting manpower. It is seriously waste in raditional broadcast or machine sowing, in this case, braiding machine technology has a greater advantage..
In the process of weaving seeds into paper tape, the braiding machine accurately controls the plant distance, the seed spacing error does not exceed ±1 mm (average), the seed amount is accurate, and no manual thinning is required in the later stage, saving a lot of manpower and material resources.
The technology can be adapted to root vegetables (such as radish, carrot, onion, green onion and burdock, etc.), leaf vegetables (such as spinach, kale, cabbage, lettuce and cauliflower, etc.), fruit vegetables (such as watermelon, melon, tomato, cucumber, eggplant and large pepper, etc.), flowers and medicinal materials and other crop seeds.
The paper tape used in the seed weaving process is very thin and light, the thickness is only about 0.02 mm, and the special process is very easy to dissolve and degrade, and will not bind the germination of the seeds.
The materials of the seed tape can be divided into two categories: water-soluble seed tape and bacterial decomposition.
Polyvinyl acetate (PVA) was used as the material of water-soluble seed tape, and the water-soluble seed tape was dissolved by water in soil after sowing in soil. Some products added trace elements in PVA materials, its solubility is slightly better, and the addition of trace elements, so that the seed germination rate is high, emergence neat. This water-soluble seed tape is mainly suitable for radish, onion, cabbage, tomato and pepper and other vegetables.
The bacterial decomposition seed tape is generally made of pulp wet non-woven fabric, which is characterized by normal operation under high temperature and high humidity conditions. The seed tape is netted, which makes the seed germinate stable, light weight and easy to preserve. Mainly applicable to burdock, radish, carrot, spinach and green onion and other vegetables. Bacterial decomposition seed tape for bud seeding, using 100% cotton non-woven or 100% man-made fiber non-woven as materials.
